GOLDEN STEPS TO HEAL FASTER : FROM THE PEN OF A PHYSICAL THERAPIST
STEP 1. BE AWARE OF YOUR HEALTH STATUS
The most important step for a patient to cure himself is to first identify that he is in an "altered state of health". It is extremely important to be aware about our own normal bodily functions, only then it will be possible for us to notice the "altered state".
STEP 2. IDENTIFY YOUR BODY IS IN PAIN, DO NOT IGNORE
In majority cases pain is the first body alarm. This is indeed the optimal time to report to your physical therapist. Unfortunately only a handful of people takes notice of it. There are two reasons behind such a patient behaviour, firstly a milder form of pain/discomfort is perceived as a "trailer"and patients feel they can adjust with it. Sadly, patients end up with extreme pain , discomfort, complete or partial loss of bodily functions , associated systemic manifestations and so on. Secondly,though there is a shift in medical sector where number of people taking preventive treatment have increased recently, but still a majority of people prefer curative therapies rather than preventive. It is high time we realize that synthetic chemicals in form of pills or massive complicated surgeries is not the solution of our health problems. We cannot hide our suffering bodies with surgeries and drugs. These may bring you wonderful results today but remember it is TEMPORARY! Your pain will return tomorrow and by that time your body cells would have developed resistance against those pills! 10mg..100mg..200mg..500mg..and the dosage will keep increasing. Who will save you then?!
STEP 3. REPORT TO YOUR PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Report to your physical therapist (orthopaedic, gynaecologist, neurology, sports, paediatrician, geriatrician). Your physical therapist is the only medical professional who can fix your musculoskeletal health issues from its root cause without any side-effects!Yes physical therapy takes time, but it is truly worth it!
CONCLUSION
Constant ignorance of body pain send signals to our brain " hey! the pain is probably normal, let the body adapt." This triggers a series of wrong muscle compensations across joints leading to poor postures and abnormal joint loading. A wrong posture movement held for long becomes a belief. This belief if not timely corrected becomes your biology. So when your body shouts in pain NEVER IGNORE. Visit your physical therapist, he will make a connection between your body, pain and its cause. Face it, accept it and take right treatment timely.
